In July, Daniel McTaggart, editor of Diner Stories: off the menu, was selected by the National Beat Poetry Foundation to serve as the Beat Poet Laureate for West Virginia. It is a two-year term, from 2017-2019. During this time, Daniel expects to use his newly granted Beat powers to help others realize that as much as diners are gathering places, poetry paves the roads to them. Daniel hopes to travel on Labor Day weekend to New Hartford, Connecticut, for a celebration. He said, “I’m hoping to connect with a few more diners along the way.” Happy diner surfing, Daniel!
