On Tuesday of this week, the event for WE ARE APPALACHIA! was held on the Marshall University campus. The readings from the book by a few of the student contributors and others in the Marshall community were lovely, and President Smith read his preface and poem–wonderful writing. He has a literary soul. The event had a good turnout, and despite the fact I was involved in a car accident on the way there (no injuries!), I think I was calm as a cucumber hosting (I think, anyway). The show must go on!

MSP author Laura Treacy Bentley just received word from Librarian and Archivist Amanda Glassman that her book, Looking for Ireland: an Irish-Appalachian Pilgrimage has been added to the Reed Foundation Library at Poets House, housed in New York, NY. Her book will be included in summer 2018 Poets House Showcase for their 26th annual Showcase of the nation’s poetry books. Congratulations Laura!
